The world’s first home car charger to support V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) technology has been unveiled by UK-based OVO Energy.
VCharge enables full integration of an electric car into the grid. Using the wall-mounted charger, vehicles can both draw and give away stored electricity.
The new technology will enable cars to act as mobile batteries, improving stability and reducing the load on the power grid. This also means savings for users, who will be able to charge their vehicles while using a cheaper tariff, to then consume or resell the stored energy at a higher tariff.
