Assuming the following energy prices:

Energy prices according to PGE’s G12 tariff (for Warsaw):

Price in the night zone 0.3082 zł/kWh
Price at public fast charging stations:
averaged price 2.30 PLN/kWh

Electricity consumption of individual electric cars

Skoda ENYAQ iV – 16 kWh/100km

Variant 1 (daily tariff) 7.84 PLN/100 km
Variant2 (night tariff) pLN 4.93/100 km
Variant 3 (public fast charging station) 36.8 zł/100 km

Cost of refueling 54.67 PLN/100 km

Cars refueled with 95 gasoline

Average price of gasoline 95 6.5 PLN/litre

Gasoline 95 consumption of individual cars

VOLKSWAGEN GOLF VII GTI 5D 2.0 TSI 8.9 l/100 km

HONDA JAZZ IV 1.3 i-VTEC 5.5 l/100km

Cost of refueling 35.75 PLN/100 km

From the above statement, we can see that electric cars, due to their limited range, will be ideal for city driving with home charging. Charging an electric car with a home charging station is a cost of several zlotys, for driving 100km. This is almost 10 times less than the price we will have to pay to fill up our car with diesel or gasoline. Charging an electric car at a public charging station is already less cost-effective and its cost is similar to that of refueling cars with an internal combustion engine.

However, it is important to keep in mind the dynamically changing oil prices and increases in tariffs for individuals, which are sure to occur in the near future. An ideal hedge against increased tariffs may be to invest in a photovoltaic installation or in a wind installation.
